Claude was named Best Artist on Saturday evening during the Qmusic Top 40 Awards ceremony. The number Secretlyfrom Maan and Goldband, received the prize for the Biggest Hit.
The awards ceremony took place in Rotterdam Ahoy. Radio DJ Domien Verschuuren presented the ceremony.
Earlier in the evening, Marco Schuitmaker received the award in the Best Newcomer category. Just like last year, Suzan & Freek won the audience award for Best Live Act.
Kris Kross Amsterdam took home the award for Best DJ Act. “We are ten years old this year,” said the three men. “But we’re not going to stop anytime soon.” The group also managed to win the prize last year. In the Best DJ Act category, Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, R3HAB and Tiësto also had a chance.
By winning the award for Best Artist, Claude left FLEMMING, Kris Kross Amsterdam, Suzan & Freek and Tiësto behind.
Other contenders in the Biggest Hit category were the songs Guardian Angel by Marco Schuitmaker, How You Samba van Kris Kross Amsterdam & Sofía Reyes & Tinie Tempah, Lada (My Last Word) from Claude and Lay Low from Tiësto.
Prizes awarded at international level
The prizes were also distributed internationally. David Guetta was chosen as Best Artist and, just like last year, as Best DJ Act. Flowers by Miley Cyrus was chosen as the Biggest Hit. The award for Best Newcomer went to Cian Ducrot. Just like last year, Coldplay was chosen as Best Live Act.
The Top 40 Awards have been awarded since 2019. The prizes are intended for artists and songs from the Top 40 of the past year. There are also four audience prizes to be awarded: Best DJ act (national and international) and Best Live Act (national and international).
