“Qirat al-Qetran” and “Little Nagogi” win two Naguib Mahfouz Prizes for the novel – The Seventh Day

The Supreme Council of Culture announced the names of the award winners Naguib Mahfouz In the novel in Egypt and the Arab world for the year 2022, which is organized by the Central Administration for the People and Cultural Committees, headed by writer Mohamed Nassef.

Writer and novelist Ibrahim Farghali won the award for the best Egyptian novel, amounting to 75,000 pounds, for the novel “The Train Reader,” while the Palestinian novelist, Hassan Hamid bin Ahmed, won the award for the best Arabic novel, amounting to 75,000 pounds, for the novel “The Little Nagogi.”

It is noteworthy that the Competitions Administration announced the opening of the door to apply for the Naguib Mahfouz Novel Competition in Egypt and the Arab world in July 2022, and the door to receive works was closed in August of the same year, and the number of applicants for the competition reached 103 writers and novelists from 13 Arab countries.

The award is given to the best published novels that were issued during the years 2020 and 2021 to Egyptians and Arabs residing abroad, provided that the contestant does not submit the same novel to another competition, until the results of the competition are announced, and that the novel has not won a prize in other competitions.
