Qatari Sheikh Jassim Withdraws from Manchester United Takeover Bid: What Happened?

Sheikh Jassim and his consortium in Qatar have withdrawn from the competition to buy Manchester United.

The Qatari camp wants to buy 100% of Man Utd’s shares. The Glazer family rejects the consortium’s offer. Sheikh Jassim withdraws from the process

WHAT HAPPENED? Sheikh Jassim has told United’s American owner that he has withdrawn from buying the club after seeing his latest offer rejected, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Glazer family has rejected a new offer to buy 100 percent of the club and pay off all debts, so the Qatari consortium ended their offer.

ALL REVERSE? The Qatari consortium has been one of the leading candidates to buy the club in a process that has been ongoing for almost a year. British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group have become the main contenders to take over ownership of United. Ratcliffe, it was reported, was initially willing to take a minority stake, which would have allowed the Glazer family to remain at the helm for the time being.
