Doha, January 17 (QNA) – Akram Afif, the first player of the Qatari national football team, expressed his pride in his early qualification to the quarter-finals of the 2023 Asian Cup, after defeating the Tajikistan national team, today, with an unanswered goal in the second round of the first group competitions of the tournament.
Afif, who was chosen as the best player in the match for the second time in a row, said during the press conference after the match that reaching the round of 16 after the first two matches against Lebanon and Tajikistan is the result of teamwork carried out by all the players who implement the instructions of the technical staff well and show great commitment.
Afif congratulated the Qatari fans on qualifying, appreciating the great support he received from his small family. He pointed out that the victory in today’s confrontation was not easy against a strong competitor, considering that the players conducted the match in the ideal way, imposed their advantage, created opportunities, and achieved the desired goal, which was victory and securing the achievement of the second floor.
