It closes the Italian part of the investigation into Qatargate, as according to reports in the European press, the statements of the accused, Pier Antonio Panzeri, who however became a partner in the investigation and began to speak, proved to be completely unreliable.

According to the judge of Milan Angela Minerva who had taken over the high-profile corruption case, for the people named by Panzeri, there are no acts that require further investigation and nothing more emerged from the depositions to confirm what had been reported.

In essence, Minerva’s decision is equivalent to closing the investigation against the former general secretary of the CGIL, Susana Camuso, whom Pancheri had implicated in his testimony. Pancheri had claimed Camuso had asked Qatari official Ali bin Samih Al Marri for €50,000 in return for supporting Qatar. According to the various publications, this development is, in essence, another proof that Pancheri tried to involve others in the case without this corresponding to reality.

Eva Kaili was quick to comment on this development on her X profile, implying with her posts that she expects the same to happen to her and Francesco Giorgi.
