Qatar hosts the Asian handball qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games

The Asian handball qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be held in the Qatari capital, Doha, where the competitions begin tomorrow, Wednesday.

The winner of the tournament qualifies for the 2024 Summer Olympics, while the second-place finisher will play in the men’s Olympic qualifiers, in which 11 teams will participate.

Qatar is considered the most prominent candidate to qualify for the Olympics, due to its great experience and distinguished elements in this sport, and it has won the Asian Handball Cup title 5 times in a row, from 2014, 2016 in Bahrain, 2018 in South Korea, 2020 in Kuwait, and 2022 in Saudi Arabia.

The Bahrain national team stands out, which played in the Asian Cup final four times, and which finished eighth in the last Olympic Games held in Tokyo, Japan.

In general, 5 Arab teams participate in these qualifiers, as the first group includes Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, China and India, while the second group includes Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Japan and Kazakhstan.
