The Qatar continues to build partnerships abroad, particularly in the health sector! Indeed, the government, after announcing a modern hospital project in Boujdourau Moroccoconfirmed that he was now working on launching a new similar project, also in the Maghreb region.
Qatar has in fact launched the creation of a new ultra-modern 300-bed hospital in Algeria, very close to the capital, in Sidi Abdellah (west of Algiers)! The large-scale work began on Thursday, August 29. A highly anticipated project, which clearly demonstrates that the small gas-producing country is striving to establish solid ties with certain partners in the Arab-Muslim world.
A modern hospital at the gates of Algiers
The hospital is expected to extend over a large area of 100,000m². It will consist of a large 6-storey building and will be able to support patients in gynecology, pediatrics or surgery, ensuring very high quality care. In total, these are:
- 30 intensive care units,
- 15 operating theatres,
- 40 outpatient clinics,
- 20 emergency zones,
which will be created.
A real source of pride for both the Qataris and the Algerians who view this new establishment very favorably. According to them, it will bring something new to the way of providing care, by providing access to exceptional premises for quality care. The opening is scheduled for the end of 2026, although new deadlines could be announced.
Qatar and Algeria, hand in hand
A project worth 260 million dollars in total, which will be financed up to 40% by Algeria, via its National Investment Fund (FNI). The remainder will be covered by the Qatarwhich also has its own investment fund, called Istithmar. After milk and steel, this is a new commercial partnership between two nations that are decidedly very close.
