Qatar and Rolls-Royce to invest in green technology startups »SmartEnvironment

Entornointeligente.com / Qatar and Rolls-Royce will team up on a multi-billion pound project to develop and invest in green tech startups in the UK and the Arab Gulf state that they hope will do so. Achieve “unicorn” status with a value of more than $ 1 billion.

In a joint statement on Monday they said their goal is to create five fast-growing companies by 2030 and up to 20 by 2040, adding that the company would build on a pair of science and engineering campuses that Doha will fund in northern England and in Qatar.

The partners said the campuses would be testing grounds for startups to “test and scale” technologies to combat climate change. They said they had not yet decided on the exact location or layout of any of the campuses, but would announce more in “mid-2022.” The announcement by the world’s largest liquefied natural gas supplier and aerospace group came as world leaders began the COP26 climate change summit in Glasgow.
