Qatar Airways lashes out at Airbus and shows video of damage to A350

Qatar Airways has also published a video showing the damage to the A350s. With this, the company wants to show that Airbus is wrongly trivializing this problem.

“As this video clearly shows, the defects [aan de A350] not superficial and one of the defects causes the aircraft lightning protection system to be exposed and damaged, another defect exposes the underlying composite structure to moisture and ultraviolet light, and other defects include cracks in the composite and damage around a high percentage of rivets on the fuselage,” Qatar Airways said.

Watch that video below:

Airbus announced on Thursday evening that Qatar Airways can whistle for the fifty A321neos that the airline has ordered and which would be delivered from early next year. Airbus believes that Qatar Airways is unreliable and spreads nonsense. The two sides have had a conflict for some time over problems with the A350 fleet and are now fighting it out in court.

Qatar was the launch customer for the A350 and has already received 53 of them. Of these, 21 are on the ground due to problems with peeling paint. Anomalies in the lightning conductor were also found. According to the airline, this threatens flight safety. Qatar Airways does not want to purchase any more ordered A350s for the time being and also announced that it does not want to place an order for the recently launched A350F, the cargo version of the type.

The Qataris are now demanding $618 million in compensation from Airbus for the problems, plus $4 million each day the soap goes on.

According to Airbus, Qatar Airways exaggerates the problem and wrongly suggests that the aircraft manufacturer is not doing enough to solve it. That would be at the expense of Airbus’ good reputation.
