Qatar Airways announced today, Wednesday, that it will become the main sponsor of the Formula 1 world championship, replacing regional rival Emirates Airline, as the official airline of the sport.
The sponsorship announcement comes before the start of the 2023 season, which will start next month, and will also see Qatar start hosting one of the world championship races for a period of 10 years, as Doha will host a race next October.

The Qatar-owned company will become the title sponsor of this race – now known as the Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix – along with the Hungarian Grand Prix and the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in Italy.
The airline’s press release did not mention the value of the sponsorship deal or any other details.
Qatar Airways added Formula 1 to the list of global sports sponsorships, which include the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA), Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain Football Clubs.
