Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup Stadiums | world Cup

Qatar hosting has been heavily criticized from the outset by numerous personalities and organizations, including the human rights movement. Up to four thousand workers from neighboring countries would have died in preparation for the tournament, and migrants from Nepal or India were often not paid on time or paid at all. Concern was also expressed by the LGBT rights movement, because homosexuality is illegal and severely punished in Qatar.

The choice of Qatar as host of the championship was not without controversy. The FIFA leadership has been accused of corruption, the electoral representatives of some South American and African states have received bribes from Qatar. It all led to a large-scale police raid on the headquarters of the International Federation of Football Associations and there was even the threat of a new vote on a possible host.

Lusail Iconic Stadium versus Lusail

The largest stadium in Qatar, in which the new world champions will be decided on 18 December. Construction of the arena began in April 2017 and was supposed to take three years, but there was a delay, so the stadium won’t be ready until the world championship, where it will host a total of ten matches.

The capacity of the football grandstand, which is located about eighty kilometers from Doha, will be 80,000 spectators and, after the end of the championship, it will be rebuilt into a modern center with shops, restaurants or a clinic.

The first demountable stadium in the history of the World Cup is built with sea containers, of which, as the name of the stadium suggests, 974 were used. The stadium, inaugurated in November 2021, will be dismantled after the end of the championship, the material will then go to developing countries. Stadium 974 will be the only arena in the tournament where air conditioning will not be required. This is due to the innovative design and the location directly on the sea.
