Australian airline Qantas plans to offer direct flights from Sydney to New York and London from the end of 2025. She has ordered new aircraft for this from aircraft manufacturer Airbus.

Qantas says it has ordered twelve A350-1000 aircraft. With these aircraft, the journey must be up to four hours faster than with stopovers at present. The aircraft can carry 238 passengers and will have zones where passengers can move during the ultra-long flights.
In October 2019, Qantas already conducted a test flight between New York and Sydney with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The 16,200 kilometers between the two cities was bridged in a time of 19 hours and 16 minutes. Between London and Sydney, 17,750 kilometers, the airline flew in 19 hours and 19 minutes.
Initially, the company had plans to start flights from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to New York and London by this year, but those plans were shelved due to the corona pandemic.
There is already a direct Perth-London connection of 14,498 kilometers in 17 hours.
