Flights to New Zealand and Australia have been closed for several months.
After several postponements, it seems that we are moving towards a resumption of intercontinental flights to Qantas. If no indication has yet been given on a possible reopening of borders in these two destinations, Qantas is again offering reservations between Australia and London, the United States, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong.
“The choice of lines now accessible for booking reflects the progress of vaccinations”, notes the specialized site Air Journal, which recalls that last month, Alan Joyce, the CEO of the Australian company Qantas Airways, was emulated after declaring that travelers entering or leaving Australia on its planes should provide proof vaccination.
So far, not a single country has made vaccination compulsory. It is also not required for travelers abroad. Moreover, there is no international system to check if someone has been vaccinated. WHO is considering setting up an electronic vaccination certificate but nothing is finalized.
Australia has so far ordered several million doses of vaccines, but has not started vaccinations. The government plans to complete them by October.
