Pyrros Dimas seems to have a selective memory who, in order to be elected as an MEP with the New Democracy and secure a seat in the European Parliament, started talking about the borders of the Evros and the armoring of Europe.
Apparently the former Olympic champion forgot his own starting point in life and the difficulties he experienced in Greece due to the racism prevailing in the 90s against immigrants from Albania.
«The borders of Evros are secure and inaccessible. The armoring of the Evros is essentially the armoring of Europe. This is where Europe begins and ends, we have an obligation to support our heroic acrites, our vigilant guards, in order for us to feel safe».

As expected, his statement caused a lot of backlash with many Twitter users attacking the former Olympian, with many people disappointed by his statements.
Pyrros Dimas wasted no time in responding, essentially making references to a good wall and a bad wall, writing:
«I represent your style that is known to everyone and characterizes you. Albania’s wall was to imprison us. The Evros wall is to protect us, as happened in 2020».
Dangerous rhetoric that winks at the far-right wing of the ruling party in a Europe that doesn’t need more xenophobic MPs.
“Sit under the bar” became “sit through the fence”. Oh Pyrro Dimas, how did you change like this…

THE @Pyrros_Dimas of all Greeks.
We don’t forget Pyrrhus.
You could say the Pyrrhus of the ND purely.
Of the SW of Tempe purely. pic.twitter.com/4z3F3x2NkP— Lina (@Lina1985LP) March 22, 2024
When you are Voula Patoulidou and you have the @@ that don’t have 157: If I were in Karamanlis’ position, I wouldn’t have joined politics, I would have left
It is not possible to go out and talk about the safety of trains and shortly after count 57 victims. Do you hear Pyrro Dimas? #Temple_concealment #Karamanlis pic.twitter.com/rsMHHKvsgT— giorgos sfakianakis (@sfakosg) March 28, 2024

Pyrrhus of all the Greeks says the other and goes down with Mitsotakis. You are not of all the Greeks from today, Pyrrhus.
From today you are the Pyrrhus of the right..
This is you.
That is why I am asking for a vote from the right-wing and not from all Greeks. pic.twitter.com/aOVY00OLWx— Kim. (@f5uOcOHuhjEsvJK) March 22, 2024
To protect you from the refugees Pyrrhus?

Pyrro, how did you cross the border?
I well remember a statement of yours that said that on the bus you held on with both hands so that you wouldn’t be accused of theft?
Now you have become a Greek— Mpaountolino (@mpaountolino) March 26, 2024

This photo, Pyrrhus, brings to mind the logic of the crowded bus. Someone runs behind a crowded bus yelling at the driver to pick him up until he does. At the first stop he’s the one who shouts “I don’t believe you’ll stop, can’t you see we can’t fit?”. pic.twitter.com/LORQLynOe4
