Pyrexia, myalgae, fatigue … These are the 10 most reported side effects of the Covid vaccine

The Covid-19 pandemic is picking up slightly in Spain. This is demonstrated by the latest update of the Ministry of Health this Friday, which records 10,721 new cases of coronavirus (compared to 10,306 on the same day last week) of which 6,108 occurred in people over the age of 60.

The incidence in people over the age of 60 is 149.84 in the last 14 days per 100,000, compared to 141.78 on Tuesday. In the past two weeks, a total of 18,458 positives have been recorded in this age group. Additionally, this Friday’s report adds 95 new deaths e hay 2,279 hospitalized and COVID-19 positive patients across Spain (2,332 on Tuesdays) e 142 in intensive care (143 on Tuesday).

With the incidence increasing in the most vulnerable, vaccination remains essential to contain the spread of the virus and prevent this age group from becoming seriously ill. Although vaccines are safe, La Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) adverse events reported most notified in Spain in the seventeenth update of the pharmacovigilance report on SARS-CoV-2 vaccines.

Women, the most affected

According to the Agency, a total of 80,941 people reported experiencing some adverse effects after receiving a vaccine against Covid-19, the vast majority of them women, with 73% of cases and people between 18 and 65 years old. (87%).

The rate of adverse event cases is equivalent to 79 notifications for every 100,000 doses administered. Furthermore, 65% were reported by health professionals and 35% by citizens.

By gender, 17,915 men between the ages of 18 and 65 reported some problems after the sting, while the figure rose to 52,087 in the case of women.

Of the 80,941 notifications of adverse events, 13,627 were considered seriousmeaning “any adverse event that requires or prolongs hospitalization, gives rise to a significant or persistent disability or congenital malformation, is life-threatening or fatal, as well as any other condition considered clinically significant1”.

Of the most serious cases, 467 resulted in the death of the patient, although the Health Service clarifies that “they cannot be considered related to vaccines simply because they have been notified” because “in the vast majority of cases reported in which the information on history and concomitant therapy, death can be explained by the patient’s previous clinical situation “.
