The four winners of the #EnvoieTonProjet competition, organized by the Pyrénées-Orientales department, received their prizes. The winners will share 200,000 euros, distributed on a declining basis, to carry out their projects.
The #EnvoieTonProjet competition was launched by the Department to promote the involvement of young people in civic life. Open to young people aged 16 to 25, it lasted 6 months. Among the 50 projects proposed, 24 were selected and more than 11,000 inhabitants of the department voted to decide between them.
With 3,170 votes, the Music Academy project led by Chelsea Lord is the big winner of the competition. It will create three spaces in the same place: a dance hall, a rehearsal room with sound and a space for MAO (Computer Assisted Music): « I launched this initiative because I play drums and I don’t really have a place to practice quietly ”. The 22-year-old girl, originally from Corneilla-la-Rivière, has received support from artists in the department, including Cali.
In addition to this support, she was able to count on a presentation video which marked: “ I knew everyone was going to do something classic, and I had to stand out from the 23 other competitors. I decided to present it by rapping so that it fits with the project ”. It should now see the light of day in the coming months.
Pumptrack and cultural encounter
The project which came second was led by the Junior Association of Saint-Hippolyte. Young people want to have a pump track in their town to have fun in complete safety: “We do a lot of scooter, skate, bike and rollerblade. We embarrass the population and it’s dangerous ”, explains a representative of the project. The space, which also wants to be user-friendly, will be built in two years.
Third place goes to Alban Girard and Christophe Laport. The two friends intend to create Trobada, a traveling festival in rural areas, which may be able to see the light of day this summer if sanitary conditions allow it. The goal : “Highlight the cultural heritage of the Pyrénées-Orientales, especially the places that are less well known”.
With their Pumptrack project, around twenty young people from Font-Romeu took fourth place. The aim is to diversify the leisure offer. A success that delights Emma Sarrar: “This kind of youth-led initiative is important. Young people are the future ”.
