The Pyrenees Mountain, Adventure and Nature Short Film Festival (PMMF) has arrived this weekend in Boltaña, a town that is the sub-headquarters along with Huesca, Barbastro, Tarbes and Benasque. Once again, the event has had a great response.
The public of Sobrarbe once again responded satisfactorily and more than 300 spectators attended the screenings that were held, demonstrating that it is a territory that loves the mountains, with a significant social mass that practices all types of activities in nature.
The event was a great opportunity to enjoy the latest films on this topic made internationally on the big screen. In addition, the Boltaña headquarters contributes to the festival the trophy in the Audience Award category, an exclusive work by the Sobrarban artist Jesús Sanz.
Friday was dedicated to the screening of the feature film ‘The wall of shadows’, a documentary about the life of a Sherpa family, directed by Polish director Eliza Kubarska. It is a 2020 production awarded at festivals such as Mendifilm or Ushuaia.
On Saturday, a selection of 9 short films of different nationalities and themes were screened, chosen from among the best works presented to the 2024 edition of the festival. Among them were: ‘Something is changing’ and ‘Swimming through’, special mentions from the jury; ‘Ardiak, Ezkontza Eta Kontrabandoa’, best Culture and Nature short film; ‘Eternal Flemme’, best Adventure and Sports short film; ‘Magda’, best Animated short film; and ‘The Draconians’, best short film of the festival.
As a complementary activity, the photographic exhibition ‘Tresmiles del Pirineo’ was held. A compilation of images of a mountaineering life dedicated to ascending all the peaks of more than 3000 meters in the mountain range. The authors and protagonists are Juan Carlos Somolinos and Juan Rodríguez, residents of Sobrarbe and members of the Nabaín Mountain Club, based in Boltaña.
