A 22-year-old man died Wednesday evening during a pile-up between four vehicles and a heavy goods vehicle, on an icy highway near Anglet in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, we learned from the firefighters.
The victim’s car got stuck in the back of the “semi-trailer type” heavyweight, said a press release from Sdis64. Six other people involved were examined by the emergency services before being “left on the spot”.
Orange vigilance maintained this Thursday
The firefighters recall that the conditions “were bad at the time of the accident with in particular patches of ice on both sides of the road”. The A63 motorway, where the pileup took place, was closed for more than two hours during the intervention.
