Argentine Rodolfo Aruabarina, technical director of Pyramids Club, confirmed that the three guards, Sherif Ikrami, Ahmed El Shennawi and Mahdi Suleiman, accept the current situation, indicating that the Corona virus was behind Ahmed Fathi’s exclusion.
“Sherif Ikrami, Ahmed El Shennawy and Mahdi Suleiman are among the best goalkeepers in Egypt and I am proud of their training and their presence in my team,” Aruabarina said, hosting the “On Time Sports 1” program.
He added, “Sherif Ikrami is the goalkeeper who is mainly involved with Pyramids at the present time, but there is no hierarchy of guards for me. They are all equal to me. I need all players and I cannot deny the importance of any player.”
He continued, “The three guards have accepted the current situation and agreed on it from the beginning, and there are no problems. They work very well. The coach of the national team guards, Khaled Abdullah, is always in touch with me in every minor and major concern of the guards.”
He continued: “It is normal for Al-Mahdi Suleiman and Ahmed Al-Shenawi to want to participate, but they must wait for a chance and stick to it.”
Regarding the reason for excluding Ahmed Fathy from participating after joining the team, Aruabarina explained: “Ahmed Fathy was suffering from infection with Corona virus and was being treated, he is a professional player and sends positive messages to his teammates.”
He explained: “Fathi’s treatment took some time and that is why he did not participate mainly in the past period, but he is an important player and I preferred not to participate because I seek to preserve him with the rest of his teammates in general so that they are not injured.”
He concluded: “I always choose the best to participate in every match. I spoke with Ahmed Fathy, and it is natural for the player to want to participate, but the coach must take the appropriate decision under any circumstances. I like to listen to others, but I am the one who makes the decision.”
