Pyramide: Max Ballauf and Freddy Schenk Investigate Megalomaniacal Investment Salesmen and Manslaughter in New Cologne ‘Tatort’ Episode

Absolute success story that Robert Andersen recommends to his old Bundeswehr comrade André Stamm. A chance like that will never come again. Because “Rocko” has everything Stamm would like: a stylish car, a penthouse with a panoramic view and no financial worries. Concreta is the name of the company in which he lives his dream of wealth: it’s about investments, investments, returns and selling, selling, selling.

It’s the business world where you’re “fucking nervous” on your first job, but then you really “deliver” and the employee of the month is called a “rock star.” The customers actually just need to be convinced of their happiness. To motivate themselves, the colleagues grunt at each other while the charismatic boss Christoph Komann whips them into profit. André Stamm (Rouven Israel) enters the business; after all, he and his wife are expecting their first child, and who doesn’t want to offer their family worry-free prosperity? At the beginning, the new job goes as well as promised. What happens then? A chaos of greed, betrayal and megalomania. And the question of who is selling whom here.

Reviews in episode structure

“I am here to tell my story. And you would kindly listen to me!” says André Stamm during the interrogation by the Cologne inspectors Max Ballauf (Klaus J. Behrendt) and Freddy Schenk (Dietmar Bär). And because Schenk mentioned it before, we also know that a human life is at stake. The crime thriller audience learns the rest and which people are already beyond this stage from “Pyramide”, the “Tatort” debut by director Charlotte Rolfes (“Mrs. Jordan Equals”), via flashbacks and in an episodic structure with a slight “The Wolf of Wall Street” slur.
