Bosma believes that the House of Representatives must make itself “much stronger”. For example, he does not think it is acceptable for the government to regularly make large expenditures without parliament having anything to say about it. He also wants to limit the influence of lobbyists.
Bosma also allows things to “pop” during debates, as long as it remains neat. For example, he does not think a characterization such as “extreme right” is acceptable. He sees no reason to intervene by calling the House of Representatives a ‘fake parliament’, as his party leader Geert Wilders once did. Bosma emphasized that he himself does not agree with that comment.
The far-right PVV became the largest party in the Netherlands in the November 22 parliamentary elections. Geert Wilders’ party won 37 of the 150 seats.
