There will be no restrictions on private equity in health care, Health Minister Fleur Agema (PVV) told the House of Representatives. Before the Wilders I cabinet was formed, the PVV, with Agema as health care spokesperson, proposed such a ban. Agema now claims that it is not legally possible to ban predatory capitalists from healthcare. This is reported by ANP.
According to many parties in the House of Representatives, patients are suffering from this group of investors who are only interested in making as much profit as possible, with the quality of care high- school In a debate in April, the PVV, supported by NSC, made it clear that it was negative about this type of investment in health care. The VVD, the predatory capitalist party par excellence, was in favor.
According to Agema, a ban on private equity could make financing parts of healthcare more difficult. She now says a blanket ban removes incentives “for innovation and efficiency in health care”. The previous minister, Conny Helder (VVD) also said in June that she did not want to hear about a ban.
The opposition has nothing good to say about the turn of the PVV minister. “Health care is not about money. The consequences of too many market forces are getting more and more to people who need care. It is unbelievable that Fleur Agema is now putting on the brakes, ” wrote Harmen Krul (CDA) on X. Private equity, so dolphin capitalists who want to make a quick profit with health care money have no business in health care!”, says Sarah Dobbe from the SP. “Once he was a minister, without new intentions and just continued with too many market forces in health care,” concluded MP PvdA-GroenLinks Julian Bushoff.
Earlier, the PVV was like a leaf on a tree and announced that the elimination of the deductible in health care, which Agema fought for years in the House of Representatives, was suddenly not an issue to the party anymore.
