“Puzzling Investigation: Suspects Possibly Witnessed Feline Deaths in Canal”

When the animal was rescued, two women and a man with a child were present. The police suspect they may have seen something that could help with the investigation.

Cats have regularly been found dead in the canal for a year. For a long time, the police assumed it was coincidence, but when two cats were found dead again in one weekend last month, an investigation was launched.

“This can no longer be a coincidence, it does not seem to me that the cats themselves go to the water,” a police spokesman said at the time.

The cats that are found all come from the Boswijk district, around the Gelderse Diep. According to residents there, there is a pattern: cats often go missing on weekends, in the night from Saturday to Sunday, and are then found dead shortly afterwards.
