What could be better than putting the sciences into practice to better understand them? It is for this purpose that the students of the Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire school in Saint-Benoît-Labre yesterday launched paper rockets, made by them.

They also had to collect data to perfect their experiments with mathematical calculations related to the distance traveled by their rocket.

The project System Dpresented by the non-profit organization The Assidus, aims to develop a little interest in science. Teachers can include math, art and French in this activity.

« Sometimes, as a teacher, it’s not easy to do large scientific projects like that, while here it comes all set up, they just have to follow the procedure “, to explain Véronique Savard, secretary to Assidus.

Thus, the students had to make their own rocket by following a process. They had to read and follow the steps to ensure that their car met the dimensions. The students were also able to decorate them in their own way.

« They also learned about the different kinds of rockets, the history of rockets, the angles of fire and their impact, etc. added Ms. Savard.

This project affects all students at the Center de services scolaire Beauce-Etchemin (CSSBE) and the Center des Appalaches. It targets students in 5th and 6th year of primary school as well as those in the first cycle of secondary school. A total of 25 schools are taking part in this activity this year, representing 1,700 CSSBE students.
