As sources familiar with the situation confirmed to Bloomberg, Putin plans to go to China in October.
Putin is said to have accepted Beijing’s invitation to attend a forum organized by China dedicated to its international initiative “One Belt One Road”. Putin participated in the previous two forums.
Putin was invited to this forum by Chinese President Xi Jinping in March when he visited Moscow.
It’s no surprise that Putin plans to go to China, as shortly before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine last February, Moscow and Beijing agreed to an “unrestricted partnership.”
In March, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and children’s rights defender Maria Lvova-Belova for the deportation of Ukrainian children.
Since then, Putin has not left Russia.
