Spokesperson for the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, for the first time had an interview with the western media namely, Sky News. In the interview, Peskov opened up about the number of troops Russia who died until when the Invasion was over.
Losing a Team with a Significant Amount
Dmitry Peskov admits there has been a “significant loss” of Russian troops since the invasion of Ukraine started. While not giving details, he said their deaths were a “tragedy”.
Reporting from Sky Mews, Friday (8/4/2022), Peskov told interviewer Mark Austin that “we live in days of falsehoods and lies”.
Putin’s spokesman also said that photographs and satellite images showing civilians killed on the streets of the Ukrainian city were “clearly fake”.
“We deny that the Russian military has anything in common with these atrocities and the bodies shown on the streets of Bucha,” he told Sky News.
He insisted that the whole situation in Bucha, where photos show many Ukrainian civilians killed, was a “well-staged insinuation, nothing else.”
Asked to reveal how many civilians have died since the war began on February 24, Peskov said he did not want to answer because the numbers were not confirmed.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry said on March 25, that 1,351 Russian soldiers had been killed since the start of the invasion, and 3,825 others were injured.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said two days later that at least 10,000 Russian soldiers may have been killed.
Peskov also spoke about the completion of the invasion of Ukraine, see more details on the following page
