Putin’s New Strategy for Ukraine All

KYIV, KOMPAS.com – Smoke and fire billowed from the ruins of burning buildings. The screams of the wounded and dying filled the air.

Another 24 people, three of them children, paid the highest price for the Kremlin’s tragic new strategy.

The Russian army was too weak, disciplined and immature to make the huge gains the Kremlin hoped for when it launched its war on Ukraine.

Reported Daily Beastwith troops restrained and making gradual gains in the eastern region of the Donbass, but offering little threat to the rest of Ukraine, Putin was forced to launch missile strikes against civilian centers across the country.

This seems to be Putin’s new strategy.

The latest major attack came on Thursday (21/7/2022) when a Russian submarine launched Kalibr precision missiles at the concert hall and medical center in Victory Square in the previously peaceful city of Vinnytsia in central Ukraine.

Katya, an employee of the Nova Poshta post office, said what it was like to be a pawn in Putin’s geopolitical ire.

“It was midday and we heard the air raid alarm and started going to the shelter when the first missile hit the building just across the street. Several of our comrades were injured when the windows shattered, and the glass flew in,” he said.

“We could see burning cars outside and smoke everywhere. Our building caught fire too and we fled,” he added.

Colonel Yuri Ignat of the Ukrainian Air Force, who is special adviser to the air defense area, explained that this is no longer a conventional war.

“This is a major terrorist attack by a terrorist state attacking in a peaceful area and killing our people. What are their goals, who do they want to hit, what do they want to do? Vinnytsia is not the first city where they killed innocent citizens,” he added. .

While the Kremlin has made slow and painful but tangible gains in the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine its military engine has stalled in all other areas of the country.

So instead, Putin has relied on his horrific arsenal of long-range missiles to terrorize the civilian population that remains out of reach of troops or artillery.

He seems to believe he can weaken Ukraine’s resolve to fight back.

Since June, Ukrainian officials and international observers have noted a steady increase in missile strikes causing a large number of civilian casualties across the country.

A few days before the attack hit a shopping center in Kremenchuk killing 19 people.

Oleksiy Danilov, head of Ukraine’s National Security Council, said in an interview with the Guardian.

“We have systems in place to monitor and track all airstrikes and other attacks in our country and what we have recently noticed is a tendency to destroy more civilian targets,” he said.

“They have decided to terrorize the civilian population. That’s not my emotion but what our monitoring tells us,” he added.
