United States of America (US) imposes sanctions on Russia because of the military attack on Ukraine. Putin then hit back at the US, through non-military actions of course. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s counterattack was no less cruel than Uncle Sam’s sanctions.
Reported by Reuters on Saturday (12/3) ago, Western countries allies of the US have imposed sanctions on a number of Russian officials. This makes Russia even more ‘heavy’ if it does not stop the attack on Ukraine.
The US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on Russia on Friday (11/3) local time. There are 10 people from VTB Bank, Russia’s second largest borrower, also sanctioned the 12 members of the Duma or lower house of the Russian parliament.
“The Treasury continues to hold Russian officials accountable for permitting (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s unjustified and unwarranted war,” US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in a statement.
Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, has been under US sanctions since March 3. In its announcement, the US imposed new sanctions on Peskov’s wife and two adult children.
