Boris Johnson assured that Vladimir Putin would not have invaded Ukraine if he were a woman and believes that the war is a “perfect example of toxic masculinity“.
In an interview with German media following the G7 summit at Schloss Elmau castle, Britain’s prime minister cited the Russian president’s gender as a contributing factor to the conflict.
Johnson told ZDF broadcaster: “If Putin were a woman, which he obviously isn’t, if he were, I really don’t think he would have undertaken a crazy and macho war of invasion and violence in the way that it has“.
“If you want a perfect example of toxic masculinity, then that’s what he’s doing in the Ukraine.”
The comments come after Western leaders wrapped up the three-day G7 summit.held in southern Germany, promising to increase the economic and political costs that Russia’s war against Ukraine imposes on Putin and his regime.
Johnson has since traveled to Madrid to attend a NATO summit with Foreign Secretary Liz Truss.
The British military presence in Estonia will be strengthened as NATO dramatically increases its ability to respond to Russia. Leaders of the 30-member alliance will agree to cooperate more closely and significantly increase the number of troops they keep on standby.

Officials said this would ensure the UK could quickly provide reinforcements if needed and deploy artillery, air defense and helicopters.
The alliance plans to have 300,000 soldiers in a state of high readiness – compared to the current 40,000 – and the United Kingdom will dedicate its land, air and maritime capabilities to the “new force model”.
