The wife of the opposition leader Alexei Navalny, Yulia Navalnayasaid today that the president Vladimir Putin and her entourage will “pay” for the death of her husband in an Arctic prison in Russia.
«I don’t know if we should believe the terrible news we receive, which we only receive from official media. For many years (…) we cannot believe either Putin or his government. They lie constantly. But if this is true, I would like Putin and everyone around him to know – his government, his friends – that they will be punished for what they have done to our country, my family and my husband,” Navalnaya said.
“They will be brought to justice and that day will come soon,” he insisted in a brief statement at the Security Conference in Munich, where he received support in the form of applause from attendees.
Navalnaya made a standing appeal to the international community and all people in the world to ask for unity in the fight against the “evil” that Putin represents.
«We must unite and fight against this evil. We must fight this horrible regime in Russia. “This regime and Vladimir Putin must be personally responsible for all the atrocities they have committed in our country in recent years.”he emphasized.
Navalnaya confessed that she has long reflected on whether to remain in Munich and appear at the Security Conference or leave to join her children, but Navalny himself inspired her to stay.
I thought, what would Alexei have done in my situation? And I’m sure he would be here on this podium,” she stressed.
Last December, Navalny was transferred from a prison in the Vladimir region, less than 200 kilometers from Moscow, to a prison in the Arctic Circle, near the Ural mountain range, where he died, according to the prison services.
Navalny was convicted in Russia in a process described as politically motivated when he returned with his wife to Russia in 2021 from Berlin, where he had recovered from poisoning the previous year at the hands of the Federal Security Service, according to his allies.
On December 7, Navalni asked from prison to vote against Putin in the elections of March 17, 2024. EFE (I)
