– The victory is a sure thing, I have no doubt about that, Putin said during a visit to an arms factory in St. Petersburg on Wednesday.
The confident president was expected to give a speech here later in the day. Putin is in town to mark 80 years since Soviet forces broke through the Nazi siege of St. Petersburg – then called Leningrad.
Among the reasons why Putin is certain of victory is that Russia’s military industry has stepped up production.
– When it comes to achieving the final result and the inevitable victory, it depends on several things: the unity of the Russian people, the courage and heroism of our soldiers, and of course the work of the military industry and factories like this and people like you, Putin told the workers at the weapons factory.
Russia invaded neighboring Ukraine on February 24 last year.
