“The US president talked about the possibility of (imposing) sanctions, and our president talked about what the Russian side needs and that sanctions are not new, they have been around for quite a while, but unfortunately there is no positive effect from them for either the US or Russia. ,” Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov was quoted as saying by TASS, Wednesday (12/8/2021).
Ushakov said when talking about possible sanctions, Biden mentioned areas such as economics, finance and politics.
“It is not clear why these sanctions should be slapped,” he said.

“Our president told (Biden) that you’re worried about something we don’t understand, and we’re worried about what’s clear to us,” he said.
Asked if one could expect a de-escalation in Russia-US relations after this meeting, Ushakov replied: “Let’s see how this conversation will translate into certain actions and steps.”
Earlier, US President Joe Biden warned Russian President Vladimir Putin amid his efforts to find a diplomatic solution to the Ukraine crisis. Biden said Russia would face painful economic sanctions if Russia invaded Ukraine.
