Putin, sworn in as president of Russia for the fifth time and until 2030

Vladimir Putin was inaugurated as president of Russia this Tuesday in his fifth term that will leave him at the head of the country for the next six years. This inauguration took place during a ceremony held in the Grand Kremlin Palace, as reported by the Russian news agency. Tass and EFE.

Context. Putin has been the president of Russia since 2000 and was re-elected on March 17 with more than 87% of the votes. With this re-election, Putin will continue to lead the Government until 2030, which would mean 30 consecutive years of presidency.

  • Putin made a change to the constitution in 2020 to eliminate the regulation that prevented him from continuing to lead the country for more terms. Through this modification Putin will be able to remain at the head of Russia until 2036, as reported of the BBC.
