On March 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted to the State Duma a draft law on ratification of the protocol on amending the Agreement on Peacekeeping Activities of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) dated October 6, 2007. This is reported correspondent.net.

The document, in particular, provides for the possibility of using the CSTO forces in peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the United Nations (UN) through a “coordinating CSTO member state.”

The document states that the “coordinating state” (CG) is one of the CSTO member states that will elect a special council to resolve organizational issues and ensure the involvement of collective peacekeeping forces (CPF) in UN operations.

Ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavel Klimkin explained Babel that in this way Putin is trying to come up with reasons to leave his troops on the territory of Ukraine.

“He wants to leave peacekeeping forces on our territory and threaten others,” Klimkin said.
