Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on the transfer of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), seized by Russian forces, to Russian state property.

“Securing the acquisition of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant and other assets necessary for the implementation of its federally owned activities,” the decree said.

In accordance with the decree, the operation of the nuclear power plant was transferred to the “Zaporizhya NPP Operation Organization” established by the Russian atomic energy company “Rosenergoatom”.

The Zaporizhia nuclear power plant reportedly came under the control of Russian troops in March and Moscow openly used it as a tool of nuclear blackmail, threatening Ukraine and other European countries with a nuclear disaster.
