President Russia Vladimir Putin referred to as the ‘Guardian and Protector of Religion’ by the citizens Lebanon, with a photo of him holding the Koran appearing on billboards in the country. The title was pinned on Putin after he criticized burning of the Koran during a visit to a mosque in Derbent, Dagestan, two weeks ago.

As reported by the Russian media, SputnikTuesday (11/7/2023), Putin came and was given a Koran while visiting the Dzhuma Mosque in Derbent, Republic of Dagestan, on June 28 during the Eid al-Adha celebration.

During his visit to the mosque, Putin stressed that disrespect for the Koran was a crime in Russia, unlike in some other countries. This comment was made by Putin when commenting on the burning of the Koran by an Iraqi refugee in Sweden which drew a lot of criticism.

Putin also emphasized during his visit that Russia will comply with the applicable legislative rules at all times.

Recently, several posters featuring Putin holding the Koran have appeared in Lebanese cities.

In the posters that appeared a few days ago in various Lebanese cities, there is a special mention written over the photo of Putin clutching the Koran to his chest.

“Guardian and Protector of Religion,” is what Lebanese people call Putin in the poster.

According to the head of the Roslivan Office for Russian-Lebanese Cooperation, Muhammad Nasruddin, who was behind the posters and billboards, Putin has shown the world how religion should be treated in the event of an incident. burning of the Koran in Sweden.
