The Kremlin spokesman answered journalists’ question whether the Russian Federation is ready to withdraw troops from Ukraine after almost 10 months of war. Peskov’s statement followed the words of President Biden, who called the condition for negotiations with Putin.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is open to negotiations to ensure Moscow’s interests, his spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. Speaking of which in shape Russian news agency “RIA Novosti”.
At the same time, the Kremlin spokesman complained that the United States does not recognize the parts of Ukraine occupied by Russian troops as “new Russian territories”.
Peskov says the preferred way to achieve common goals is through diplomacy.
When asked by journalists whether the Russian Federation was ready to withdraw troops from Ukraine after almost 10 months of hostilities, Peskov replied that “the special operation continues”.
“The United States still does not recognize new territories within the Russian Federation and, of course, this greatly complicates the search for a possible ground for mutual discussion,” the spokesman said. “Secondly, the Russian president is always been and remains open to negotiations with the aim of safeguarding our interests”.
According to Peskov, it was Putin who, even before the large-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, tried to negotiate on the basis of prepared texts – with the United States, NATO and the OSCE. However, according to Peskov, this proposal has not received the expected response in the Russian Federation.
The Kremlin spokesman’s comment follows Joe Biden, who said the day before that he still had no intention of contacting Putin, but could speak to him if he showed interest in ending the war. According to Biden, he is ready to negotiate with Putin, but only after consultations with NATO and allies.
