Russian President Vladimir Putin said yesterday (22) that he wants an end to the war with Ukraine.
“Our goal is not to turn the wheel of military conflict, but rather to end this war,” Putin said at a press conference held after the cabinet meeting that day.
“We will work towards this, and of course the sooner the better,” he added.
This is the first time Putin has used the word war to describe an invasion of Ukraine.
President Putin has called the war with Ukraine a “special military operation” for Russia following its February invasion.
President Putin also hinted at the possibility of a diplomatic solution to end the war.
“All armed conflicts end one way or another through some sort of negotiation in the diplomatic orbit,” Putin said.
