Russia’s autocratic president Vladimir Putin has been suffering from possibly cancer in recent years, according to the Russian expert, professor Kari Liuhto from Turku University of Economics to Ilta-Sanom.
In an interview with IS, Liuhto commented on Putin’s isolation and loneliness at the head of his war-torn country.
– During Corona, Putin isolated himself. The reason was the fear of the corona pandemic and perhaps the fact that he underwent a medical operation. It could have been prostate cancer surgery, Liuhto tells Ilta-Sanom.
According to the professor, excessive isolation was probably part of the reason why Putin attacked Ukraine in February 2022. Liuhto tells IS that, according to some sources, the war plan was already ready at the beginning of 2021. This means that the war plan was drawn up during the effects of the pandemic.
Iltalehti has reported on Putin’s health several times during the expansion of the war. Most recently, the former head of the British foreign intelligence agency MI6, Sir Richard Dearlove estimates that there is “something fundamentally wrong” with Putin’s health. Swedish doctor Erik W. Larsson said around the same time that Putin might have prostate problems.
In April 2023, documents leaked from the Pentagon became public, according to which Putin has cancer, which has been treated with chemotherapy.
The information has remained unconfirmed.
