He fears that at this meeting the Russian side will try to persuade Minsk to support the Russian Federation on sensitive issues on the Ukrainian agenda, in particular on the issues of Donbass and Crimea. In his opinion, this may become one of the elements of payment for further support of the Belarusian regime.
“How to counteract this – this is the focus of the attention of all our involved ministries and departments. We are already actively working to strengthen the international coalition, to strengthen the sanctions regimes. One of the practical steps that is being managed today is the formation of an international coalition around the Crimean platform,” said the Deputy Foreign Minister.
On May 28, Putin and Lukashenko met. The topics of the meeting were economy, implementation of joint projects in various fields, “response to external pressure and sanctions policy”, as well as “further steps and work of the governments of the two countries to develop integration on the platform of the Union State.”
