Russian President Vladimir Putin needed a new plan. Taking the whole of Ukraine and the capital Kyiv proved too difficult. Instead, he has focused on eastern Ukraine and the counties of Luhansk and Donetsk.
Now the Russians have launched the offensive to take the city of Sievjerodonetsk, several media outlets report. It is the last major city under Ukrainian control in Luhansk in eastern Ukraine.
