Russian President Vladimir Putin made a video address to the inhabitants of Austria in connection with the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Europe from fascism, informs Kremlin.
Putin noted that the victory over the Nazis saved humanity and paved the way for the revival of democratic Austria. “Over 26 thousand Soviet soldiers gave their lives for her release,” the president said. He thanked the Austrians for their careful and respectful treatment of military graves.
Putin wished the Austrians to successfully overcome the coronavirus epidemic. Her Russian leader called the “common new threat.”
The Kremlin said that Putin turned to Austrian citizens at the suggestion of Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurtz.
