Intelligence officials say that after an unsuccessful attempt to quickly occupy the territory of Ukraine, Russia is preparing to switch to “military rails” and mobilize the armed forces and the economy.
Russia’s concept of conducting a so-called “special operation”, which meant the rapid seizure of the territories of Ukraine, failed. Now the Kremlin understands that it is necessary to prepare for a protracted war, forcing Russian society to get used to the idea that “war is for a long time.” About it January 16 declared representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Yusov.
“Preparing Russia for a long war means understanding the enemy that his plan to quickly seize Ukraine is not feasible. Now Putin is considering the option of a long war of attrition,” Yusov said.
According to him, the Russian president did not have a plan for a long-term war, but in recent months Russia has seen intentions to transfer the country to “military rails” and make the public realize that the war with Ukraine will be long.
“They are mobilizing all the reserves and funds. They have exorbitant military budgets. We will also soon see other economic measures on the territory of the Russian Federation. Of course, this is what Putin is preparing for,” the representative of the GUR said.
For its part, Yusov believes, Ukraine has a completely different task. Namely, 2023 should be the year of a radical change in the situation and victory over the enemy, since neither our country nor the entire civilized world needs a protracted war.
Recall, military experts from the Institute for the Study of War believe that the Russian Federation over the next 6 months plans to seize the initiative on the battlefield and deprive Ukraine of the ability to conduct a counteroffensive. The January 15 report says that President Vladimir Putin has not changed his goals in the war, but is fundamentally changing the approach to its conduct.
On January 13, the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine announced that the Russian authorities were planning to create an army of two million people in the country. According to intelligence officers, in the near future the Kremlin may announce another wave of mobilization and recruit another 500,000 conscripts.
