President Putin invited the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan to the Kremlin later today to discuss the resurgence of violence in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
“The Russian president calls for an end to fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh on humanitarian grounds so that dead bodies and prisoners can be exchanged,” the Kremlin said. Last night, Putin already spoke by phone with the leaders of both countries.
The conflict revolves around the Azerbaijani region of Nagorno-Karabakh, which is inhabited by Armenians and is de facto self-administered, with support from Armenia:
