President United States of America Joe Biden says he believes the President Russia Vladimir Putin has made the decision to invade Ukraine.
“Right now, I believe he (Putin) has made a decision, we have reason to believe that,” Biden said in response to reporters’ questions at the White House, USA, Saturday (19/2) early morning WIB.
This statement is in contrast to what Biden said some time ago that he did not believe Russia invaded Ukraine.
Biden said some intelligence showed Putin had decided to attack Ukraine.
“We have significant intelligence capabilities,” Putin said.
Nevertheless, Biden wants Putin to change his mind and make room for diplomacy.
“Diplomacy is always possible,” Biden said,
In addition, Biden also threatened to impose severe sanctions on Russia if it invaded Ukraine.
“The bottom line is this. The United States and our allies and partners will support the Ukrainian people. We will hold Russia accountable for its actions. The West is united and resolved. We are ready to impose severe sanctions on Russia if it further strikes,” Biden said.
Currently, Russia is stationing its troops on the Ukrainian border. The intensity of firefights has also increased in eastern Ukraine controlled by pro-Russian separatists.
