Russia has supplemented its so-called “stop list” of those responsible for creating a Russophobic course with 25 more names of US citizens, including President Joe Biden’s wife and daughter.
This was announced by the Foreign Ministry in Moscow, quoted by TASS and Reuters.
The measure is in response to “ever-expanding sanctions against Russian political and public figures,” the statement said.
In addition to Jill Biden and her daughter Ashley Biden, the new names on the “stop list” are senators from the McFaul-Ermak group, which is preparing recommendations for sanctions against individuals and legal entities in Russia.
Earlier, it became clear that Russia was banning the entry of another 43 Canadian citizens, in response to sanctions imposed by Ottawa against Russian citizens as punishment for the Russian invasion of Ukraine, AFP reported.
The new sanctions list, published by the Russian Foreign Ministry, includes Susan Kawan, chairwoman of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party of Canada, and Mark Carney, a former governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England.
Among those sanctioned are high-ranking representatives, political advisers and representatives of civil society.
Russia’s foreign ministry has condemned the “militant Russophobia” of Justin Trudeau’s government, saying it was a response to “new sanctions against Russian entrepreneurs and members of their families” imposed by Ottawa in May.
With the latest Russian sanctions, a total of more than 700 Canadian citizens are banned from entering the territory of Russia, AFP reports, BTA quotes.
