Putin congratulated the Russian fighters for the liberation of Artyomovsk

/Pogled.info/ President Vladimir Putin congratulated the “Wagner” group and the Russian army for the liberation of Artyomovsk, the Kremlin press service reported.

“Vladimir Putin congratulates the Wagner amphibious assault troops, as well as all servicemen of the units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, who provided them with the necessary support and cover on the flanks, on the completion of the operation to liberate Artyomovsk,” the message said.

All those who distinguished themselves will be awarded state prizes, the Kremlin added.

As reported by the Ministry of Defense, the liberation of the city was completed as a result of the offensive actions of the “Wagner” assault units with the support of the artillery and aviation of the Southern Group of Russian troops.

Full control over the city has been established, said the founder of “Wagner” Yevgeny Prigozhin. According to him, at noon on May 20, the fighters of the group took over the last section of the so-called “Airplane” district. From May 25, Wagner will begin withdrawing its units for rest and regrouping, establish “necessary defensive lines” and hand over control of Artyomovsk to the military, Prigozhin added.

Artemovsk is located on the territory of the DPR, north of Gorlovka. It is an important transport hub for supplying the Ukrainian group in Donbass. Fierce battles for him lasted many months.
