Russian President Vladimir Putin announced, in a speech on the occasion of Defender of the Fatherland Day, that Russia will continue to pay attention to strengthening its nuclear triad and defense capabilities.

“We will pay increased attention to strengthening the nuclear triad as it was in the past,” Putin said ahead of the first anniversary of the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.

He stressed, “The modern and effective army and fleet is a guarantee of the country’s security and sovereignty, and guarantees its stable development and future. Therefore, we will give priority to strengthening the defense capability.”

Also, the Russian President said that this year, the first platforms of the “Sarmat” missile system will enter combat service, stressing that Moscow will continue the serial production of “Kinjal” hypersonic missiles.

Putin indicated that this year will also witness the delivery of large quantities of sea-launched hypersonic “Zircon” missiles.

He pointed out that the Russian forces participating in the special military operation are fighting bravely and heroically the new Nazism that has emerged in Ukraine.

He added, “Our fighters are now courageously and heroically fighting the neo-Nazism that has taken root in Ukraine, and defending our people and our historical lands.”

Putin congratulated the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the participants in the special military operation, saying: “I would like to sincerely congratulate the servicemen, volunteers, citizens who were called up, experts of all disciplines, participating in the special military operation.”

It is noteworthy that, last February, Putin announced the start of a special military operation in Ukraine to protect the population of the Donbass region from the oppression of the Ukrainian forces, and to liberate the four regions that joined Russia recently (the republics of Donetsk and Luhansk and the provinces of Zaporizhia and Kherson).

Earlier in the day, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced in a statement on its website on “Telegram”, that “according to available information, the Kiev regime is preparing an armed provocation against the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, and it will be carried out by Ukrainian armed units, including the Azov nationalist battalion unit.”
