President’s tough challenge Russia Vladimir Putin to Western countries. Putin challenged the West to try to defeat Russia on the ‘field of war’.
That statement was made in one of his loudest speeches since he sent troops to Ukraine, on Thursday (7/7) local time as reported by the AFP news agency, Friday (8/7/2022). Putin said Moscow’s intervention in Ukraine marked a shift to a “multi-polar world”.
On that occasion, Putin also denounced the “totalitarian liberalism” which the West says has been trying to apply around the world.

“Today we heard that they want to beat us on the battlefield. Well, what can you say here? Let them try,” Putin told senior Russian lawmakers on the 134th day of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Putin accused the “collective West” of waging a “war” in Ukraine, and said Russia’s intervention in the pro-Western country marked the beginning of a shift to a “multi-polar world”.
“This process cannot be stopped,” he added.
He also warned Ukraine and its Western allies that Moscow had not even started its military campaign in Ukraine ‘in earnest’.
“Everyone should know that we have not started in earnest,” Putin said.
“At the same time we do not refuse to hold peace negotiations, but those who refuse should know that it will be more difficult to reach an agreement with us at a later stage.”
