The head of the Russian Federation told the President of France that Russia is open to negotiations with Ukraine, but only if its own interests are taken into account.
French President Emmanuel Macron held telephone conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and demanded to stop the war with Ukraine, writes EP.
Macron called for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine, stopping attacks on civilians, maintaining civilian infrastructure and access to roads.
In turn, Putin told Macron that Russia is open to negotiations with Ukraine, and the settlement of the conflict is possible if Russia’s legitimate security interests are taken into account. That is, the recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea, the demilitarization and denazification of the Ukrainian state and ensuring the neutral status of Ukraine.
“A settlement in Ukraine is possible with its demilitarization and denazification, neutral status and recognition of Crimea. The threat comes from Ukrainian nationalists who use civilians as human shields, shelling the cities of Donbass,” Putin’s press service quoted Putin as saying.
